Albert A. Fox Jr. is the founder and President of the Alliance for Responsible Cuba Policy, an organization based in Washington, DC. The Alliance was founded in November 1998 to re-establish trade and diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba.
Mr. Fox is also the founder and co-owner of Access Management, Inc., located in Chevy Chase, Maryland, which specializes in management consulting in the areas of accounting, information systems and recruiting.
Mr. Fox has served as a congressional staff assistant in both the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. A successful lobbyist and businessman, he has more than thirty-seven years of experience in the federal government and private sector. He has represented several major corporations including the former Allied Chemical Corporation in which he was recognized as an expert of various environmental laws and regulations.
Mr. Fox is a former United States Commissioner of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday Commission.
In 1987, Mr. Fox played a vital role in negotiating the release of hundreds of child activists detained throughout South Africa. In 1991, he arranged a meeting between former South African President F.W. DeKlerk and sixty-seven United States Senators who embraced the process of reform for the "New South Africa" and the subsequent election of Dr. Nelson Mandela as president of South Africa.
In 1993, after being recommended by several senior United States Senators, the Governor of Florida, and other high government officials, Mr. Fox was actively considered by President Clinton to be Chairman of the Consumer Products Safety Commission.
Beginning in December 1999 and throughout the Elian Gonzalez saga, Mr. Fox advised the Cuban government, various US Senators and US Congressmen, and appeared on ABC, NBC and Fox News Network promoting six year old Elian's reunification with his family. Mr. Fox was one of six Americans invited to attend Elian's seventh birthday party on December 7, 2000 in Cardenas, Cuba.
Mr. Fox receives numerous invitations to speak to universities, corporations, and non-profit groups regarding US-Cuba relations.
Mr. Fox received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland. He has assisted the Washington Performing Arts Society, Washington Concert Opera and the Washington Ballet with fundraising and international exchange program activities. He is an avid golfer and is fluent in Spanish.
